Pirate Festival!

Spent all day yesterday wandering the mayhem of the Northern California Pirate Festival. This wonderful event celebrated it’s fifth birthday yesterday and looks to be going strong. In a world where most entertainment costs a fortune to attend, the pirate festival has managed to keep itself free from the beginning.

Yes, you heard me. Free. Free entry, free parking. And plenty of free stuff to enjoy at the fair…music, plays, cannon fire. Uh huh, cannon fire! There was a school for the young and impressionable on how to be a pirate. And plenty of places to spend money for those inclined. Clothing, jewelry, weapons, books, food, drink…games…

Sigh. It was a lot of fun! Check in later this week as I post some pics!

  1. That is amazing. And it sounds like so much fun! I’ll have to find a pirate festival around here somewhere. 🙂

  2. I highly recommend pirate festivals, no matter where you live! I bet there’s something around Boston… In fact, I just read today about Salem being a center of privatering and celebrating that…so there is something close to you!
